Also there is a legend associated with Lord Ganesha & Durva Grass which i have narrated below ….
Story Lord Ganesha and Durva Grass :
Once upon a time there lived a demon named Analasura. He created a lot of havoc not only on earth but also in the heaven. He emitted fire from his eyes and destroyed whatever came in his way.
All the demi-Gods (Deva’s) got scared and sought Lord Ganesha’s help. Lord Ganesha assured all of that that he will kill the demon and restore peace in earth and heaven.
In the battlefield Analasura started attacking Lord Ganesha with fireballs. In reply, Lord Ganesha took up his ‘virat roop’ (giant form) and gulped down the demon.
After gulping demon Analasura, Lord Ganesha felt extremely uneasy due to the heat inside his body. Moon came to Lord Ganesha’s help and stood on Ganesha’s head and hence Lord Ganesha is also known as ‘Bhaalachandra’ which in English means meaning Moon crested Lord. But this did not help. Even Lord Vishnu gave Lord Ganesha his lotus to bring down the heat, but that too did not help…..
Finally, a few sages arrived there with 21 durvas and placed them on Lord Ganesha’s head and miraculously, the heat went off. Please by sages and miracle of durva grass, Lord Ganesha declared that whoever worships Him with durva grass will forever receive His blessings.
